American Gladiators

August 10, 2007

photo of the American GladiatorsEvery now and then I stumble across American Gladiators on ESPN Classic. I can't think of a better way to waste time and reminisce over the lost hairdos, clothes, and great TV shows of the 80's than watching athletes, firemen and women, and more compete against juiced up "gladiators" in Adidas spandex. It's totally rad! I mean, check out this intro — doesn't that scream cool?!

I'm sure most everyone, like me, remembers watching this show on Saturday mornings and swearing that we could perform the events better than the contenders. And I'm sure some guys out there will never admit that they used to think at least one of the women gladiators was kinda hot!

With that, I'm gonna sit here and watch.

    Diamond in the 90's
I remember loving this show; Imagining what it would be like to be in their obstacle course against Diamond! However, because I remember this so vividly, it occurred to me there was no way it was in the 80's. **I think I suffered from sever ADD in my early childhood years** So, I found this: "The original American Gladiators first ran originally in weekly syndication from September 16, 1989 to May 11, 1996." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Gladiators
