My friend had been trying to get me to paint something for him for a long time. I kept telling him that the next one I paint would be his if he liked it.
Now, after a year of him bugging me, I finally got the urge to paint again. He loved it.
"His Burden" is probably one of the more realistic paintings I've done. Although abstract, I think its subject is more obvious.
I was feeling compelled one day at church to paint something that symbolized the Grace we're afforded through His burden of the cross. I won't explain much else about this painting; I hate to alter the viewer's own interpretation, but here's the verse that helped inspire the final product:
"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."
- Gal. 5:1
